An important property of fine dusts is the fact that they are not hygroscopic, which means that they cannot be bound by simply applying water. This may sound ridiculous with substances like flour or wood dust bus nevertheless is the truth. Generally dust is fought by means of applying fine fog which results in enveloping the dust particles with water, thereby increasing their weight until they begin to sink to the ground or adhere to some surface.
According to the application profile several methods are available :
- with small local emissions (e.g. with belt conveyors) "static systems" are used, which means fogging nozzles fixed on rigid mounts near the emission points
- with wide local emissions (e.g. storage areas, disposals, loading stations) usually "dynamic systems" are utilized which means that the humidification fog is transported by means of the airstream of a fan to the points of emission
- for any requirement Plantfog can provide various configurations of dust binding, from a fixed fogging fan to a programmable 3-axis wide-throw fan up to a "intelligent" system which seeks dust emissions by means of laser scanning
