Overview

Research Glasshouses
University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences, Vienna

The research glasshouses of the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences are open to all departments which need climatized houses for their cultivation experiment.
The houses are organized as follows -

  • in the centre of the glasshouse-complex a central work area is provided
  • around this central area 6 closed compartments are situated where the departments work on their cultivation experiments

Humidity in the compartments can be adjusted individually - there are 7 control circuits available -

  • central work area 
  • one control circuit for each of 5 compartments
  • 2 independent circuits for one compartment

During summer 2003 the following departments used the glasshouse complex -

The fogging system is provided with partially desalinated water: this provide two advantages:
- no foreign substances are entered into the experiments
- the danger of nozzle clog-up by suspended solids of lime is minimized
