The agency, which is situated on the northern boundaries of Vienna utilizes not only open areas, laboratories and other buildings but also a huge complex of glasshouses for experiments and analyses of agricultural plants.
The application profile regarding humidification for the total of 84 cabinets was quite a challenge for us:
the humidification system, which was planned by Mr. Leonhard (Vitroplant), Mr. Zederbauer (AGES) and Mr. Dolejsi (Plantfog) during 1994 and in the following realized is one of the largest and most sophisticated in all Europe.
A total of 4 major pumps and 2 standby-aggregates provide pressurized water for some 800 Plantfog fogging nozzles type A-250 (4.6 lit/h at 50 bar), with an electric performance of some 33.5 kW.
Control is managed directly from the central computerized control center (installed by Blümel, control systems for agriculture, Vienna, www.bluemel.at)
This means that, for example in the glasshouse complex „PS“
57 cabinets can be individually humidified at the same time in parallel. To accomplish this two large pumps type „1050“ (63 lit/min) with 7.5 kW power each are providing pressurized water.
One pump of same type is in standby.
As fully desalinated water of „W0“-quality is used all components carrying water have been designed and installed in stainless steel V4A.
With ample capacity of reflux-valves and buffer-tanks it is possible to humidify only one of the smallest cabinets with 6 nozzles (this means only 20 litres of water per hour) as well as all 29 labs at the same time without any overload of pumps
